Google Chrome is a new generation web browser developed and released by Google Inc. Google uses the latest WebKit layout engine and extreme application framework to develop this browser. Firstly a beta version of Google Chrome was produced on 2 September 2008 for Microsoft Windows, later on 11 December 2008 the public stable was release.

“Chrome” The name is derived from the graphical user interface frame technology or chrome of web browsers. Till 1 November 2009, with 3.6% of worldwide usage share of web browsers, Chrome was the fourth most widely used browser. On June 2009, two more Development Chrome versions for Linux and Mac OS X were also released.

Google Chrome is a open source web browser. It develop in parts and finally a complete source code of browser “Chrome” was released by Google in 2008, including the new bespoke V8 JavaScript engine as an open source project and title it “Chromium”. This move of Google let the third-party companies and developers to study the underlying source code of Chrome and to help in developing the browser to the Linux and Mac OS X platforms. Google also expressed hope that other browsers would adopt V8 to help web applications in future.

The Google-authored part of Chromium was released under the permissive BSD license, which allows portions to be incorporated into both open source and proprietary software programs. And all Other portions of the source code are subject to a variety of open-source licenses. Chromium also implements all the features as Chrome, but it is without Google branding and automatic updates, and it has a slightly different logo.
